Adams Hendry provided planning consultancy and project management services to Grundon Waste Management to permanently retain a 130,000tpa Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and ancillary facilities at Tanhouse Farm, Colnbrook. The MRF is located close to the M25, off the A4 near to the Company’s Lakeside Energy from Waste facility. The facility is in full operation predominantly managing non-hazardous waste serving local catchment from the site including Slough, other unitary authorities in Berkshire, parts of Buckinghamshire, Surrey and London.
Adams Hendry provided planning and project management consultancy services on the project, encompassing the development of planning strategy, the preparation and submission of the planning application and supporting documents, and management and preparation of the Environmental Statement required to accompany the planning application.
This included establishing the need for the facility, the absence of alternatives and the justification for its development in the Green Belt. Overcoming design issues related potential flood risk, managing nature conservation interests and balancing traffic and transport constraints were key. Securing the support of the local liaison group and the local Parish Council was also critical to the successful determination of the planning application.
