Emma Barnett

Director

Emma is a Director and co-owner of Adams Hendry with more than 20 years experience gained in both the public and private sectors. Her local authority background and understanding of the political context coupled with her commercial awareness developed over 10 years in consultancy enables her to provide pragmatic solutions to deliver complex and often controversial schemes. Using her thorough understanding of planning and environmental policy and consents legislation, she regularly advises clients on residential and commercial schemes as well as major transport schemes. She has experience of the practical application of legislation governing both Development Consent Orders and Local Development Orders.

Andy Blaxland

Director

Andy Blaxland is a Director and co-owner of Adams Hendry. An experienced and committed town planner with 25 years experience in the public and private sectors, Andy provides strategic advice to Clients from project inception to implementation, taking both the technical lead role on individual projects as well as overseeing others as Project Director. With a focus on infrastructure, policy preparation and consenting strategies, he has successfully led applications for major schemes, including water and wastewater infrastructure, commercial and residential schemes. Andy leads policy development and development management consultancy work for various local planning authorities. He is also an experienced expert witness in planning appeals and inquiries, and has successfully defended Client’s interests in cases at the lands tribunal, high court, court of appeal and supreme court.

Phil Rowell

Director

Phil Rowell is a Director and co-owner of Adams Hendry with over 18 years experience with Adams Hendry. Phil provides strategic advice to Clients on a wide variety of planning matters and has led the preparation of numerous applications for strategic infrastructure schemes.  He has extensive knowledge and expertise in environmental impact assessment, the planning aspects of compulsory acquisition proceedings and the consenting processes associated with major infrastructure projects.   Phil is an accomplished expert witness, and has experience of appearing at planning inquiries and examinations, at the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) and in providing evidence for High Court proceedings.

Gareth Bennett

Technical Director

Practising as a planner in the private and public sectors since 1997, Gareth has extensive knowledge of the development plan system, planning application preparation, EIA, stakeholder negotiation and multi-disciplinary project management. He specialises in securing consent for complex infrastructure, particularly waste and wastewater, and preparing policy and strategy to support their promotion. Approachable, practical and committed to providing high quality planning solutions, Gareth balances the need to understand the detail with an appreciation of the bigger picture required for the successful delivery of major developments and policy initiatives.

Debra Ivory

Technical Director

Debra has over 20 years experience in local government and planning consultancy. She frequently prepares and submits major applications for consent across the full range of sectors, often in historic or sensitive locations constrained by international and national designations and has an excellent track record of achieving consent without recourse to Inquiry.   She has a thorough knowledge and substantial experience of major infrastructure planning including water and wastewater infrastructure projects, transport and marine works projects and often advises on the most appropriate consenting route for clients.

Suzanne Pidgeon

Technical Director

Suzanne has a breadth of planning knowledge and expertise gained in both local government and the private sector over more than 20 years. With an in-depth knowledge of the development control system and local government decision-making process, Suzanne secures planning permission for strategic infrastructure schemes. She has extensive experience in advising clients in the water industry on strategic water and wastewater resource development, including new reservoirs, strategic pipelines, major wastewater and sludge treatment projects, as well as providing input into Water Resource Management Plans and Drought Plans.

Associate

Jane has over 20 years of planning experience. Her core skills span the full range planning work, including advice to public and private sector clients on planning strategy and the planning consent process; planning policy, site appraisals; EIA; and preparing Local Development Orders. With excellent project management skills and a wide breadth of experience and knowledge Jane seeks a collaborative and pragmatic approach to find planning and environmental solutions to deliver complex infrastructure projects, including mixed-use development, residential, transport and business and commercial development.

Andy Turner

Associate

With over 15 years experience, Andy has a breadth of expertise and knowledge of the planning system developed through a wide range of projects including planning inquiries for both private and public sector clients and numerous infrastructure projects, including commercial, housing, transport, water, wastewater, minerals and waste. Andy has considerable knowledge of development management and environmental impact assessment procedures, having successfully project managed a number of strategic, and in many cases controversial, infrastructure schemes.

Jennie Reynolds

Associate

Jennie joined Adams Hendry in November 2006 with a successful track record of local plan policy work.  Since then Jennie has expanded her experience through working on a wide variety of strategic projects including: the preparation and submission of a variety of planning applications for residential, wastewater and water infrastructure schemes, as well as advising on port and marine industry proposals. Jennie has also been responsible for the submission of representations on policy documents for numerous clients and appeared at a local plan examination.

Pete Errington

Associate

Pete has over 25 years experience in local and strategic planning having worked for a number of local authorities in Hampshire including Hampshire County Council. He worked closely with the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) authorities on sub-regional planning and updates to the PUSH spatial strategy. He also worked on housing land supply, flood risk management, minerals & waste and nationally significant infrastructure projects. Pete spent 8 years working for the Home Builders Federation where he represented the house building industry at numerous local and strategic plan inquiries and examinations across the wider south east.

With over ten years experience as a planning professional, Joanne provides support in securing planning consent for large infrastructure projects.   She works closely with clients to provide practical solutions, manages public and stakeholder consultation, prepares, co-ordinates and submits planning applications and discharges planning conditions.

Rob Sellen

Principal Planner

Rob has over ten years’ experience in both planning and waste management roles.  Rob joined Adams Hendry in May 2016 and has since played a significant role working with Local Authorities in progressing their local plans as well as preparing supporting statements for major infrastructure projects and supporting the delivery of DCO’s.  In demonstrating his commitment to the resource and waste management profession, Rob is also a Chartered Waste Manager.

Adam Collier

Principal Planner

Adam joined Adams Hendry in November 2018 with over 12 years’ worth of experience in both planning and minerals and waste roles.  His experience has included 10 years in the public sector at Hampshire County Council and at Fareham Borough Council, where he has successful experience in developing local planning policy and appearing at examination for both a Minerals and Waste Plan and Local Plans, including planning for a new Garden Village.   He also has local planning policy experience in housing land supply, strategic housing land availability assessments (SHLAA), Infrastructure Delivery Plans (IDPs) and Local Aggregate Assessments, as well as sub-regional planning experience through involvement within the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) work to develop a South Hampshire Spatial Strategy.

 

 

 

Lawrie Blyth

Planner

Lawrie joined Adams Hendry in 2015. Since then, he has undertaken a range of Local Plan support work including, strategic land availability assessments (SLAA/SHLAA), strategic infrastructure package and infrastructure delivery plans (SIP/IDP), Annual Monitoring Reports, and Brownfield Land Registers. Lawrie has also worked on a number of major infrastructure and NSIP projects for private sector clients, including water and wastewater schemes, pipelines, and port developments. Lawrie is presently working towards gaining his Chartered Town Planner status with the RTPI in early 2019.

Laura Archer

Assistant Planner

Laura has been with us since July 2017 as a graduate from Newcastle University where she obtained a BA in Urban Planning. Since joining us she has assisted her colleagues with planning appeals, residential developments, large infrastructure projects, planning application preparation, EIA and waste and wastewater projects. Laura is heavily involved with the RTPI and is currently Vice-Chair of the RTPI Young Planners Network and Chair of the South Coast Young Planners Network. She also writes articles for the Transform Magazine on behalf of IEMA Futures. Once she has obtained a Master’s in Environmental Assessment and Management from Oxford Brookes in September 2019, Laura aims to become a Chartered Town Planner.

Niki Mein

Graphic Designer

With over 20 years experience, Niki heads up our in-house graphics team. Experienced in design for print, illustration, typography, document layout and GIS, Niki oversees the production of plans, publications, exhibitions and consultation material for many of our projects, much of which is produced in-house. Niki is familiar with a range of software and brings together complicated information from map and engineering based files to produce clear, accessible and attractive graphics. Her particular expertise lies in the design and artwork for large Environmental Statement documents and supporting material for planning applications, including designs for public consultation leaflets, brochures and exhibition panels.

Mark Simmons

Graphic Designer

Mark has over 15 years of design experience working for Adams Hendry. Since joining the company he has developed his core graphic skills and has gained significant experience in the full spectrum of design related work for both local authority and private sector clients. More recently he has gained the skills required to work in GIS, including editing existing data in maps, producing new data and presenting the results in a number of ways. Using a full range of design software, including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and esri ArcGIS Desktop he creates artwork and designs for the many and varied projects at Adams Hendry. His expertise lies in the design, illustration and production of plans, publications, exhibitions and consultation material, he is experienced at taking complicated and complex information and presenting it in a clear and attractive manner. Mark also has extensive experience in designing and creating artwork for Environmental Statements. He has contributed to and taken sole responsibility for the design of a number in his time at Adams Hendry.
