Our Projects
North London Heat and Power Project
Helping to deliver nationally significant infrastructure
Client: North London Waste Authority
The North London Heat and Power Project is a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project being led by the North London Waste Authority (NLWA) to deliver a world class facility for the management of 700,000 tonnes of north London’s waste every year.
With the existing facility at Edmonton EcoPark nearing the end of its operational life, the NLWA is investing now to provide high quality modern infrastructure to sort and recycle waste produced by north London residents – around 3% of the UK’s total – and to recover up to 78MW of energy from waste that cannot be recycled through a new state-of-the-art Energy Recovery Facility that will be one of the most efficient and advanced of its kind.
The Project will, once operational, supply electricity and heat for up to 127,000 homes by using environmentally sound waste management methods to treat waste from 2,000,000 residents.
Since 2017 Adams Hendry have been retained by the NLWA to provide planning consultancy services to the Project as part of the sequential implementation of the Project’s Development Consent Order, including securing appropriate approval planning requirements and obligations from relevant authorities to facilitate delivery of the project on site and on time.
