Adams Hendry recently prepared and submitted a planning application on behalf of Think Environmental for an innovative bio-drying and pyrolysis facility in Northamptonshire, the first of its kind in the UK. The facility will be capable of treating up to 50,000 tonnes of commercial and industrial waste from the local area and will make a significant contribution to the network of sustainable waste management facilities in the County. The electrical power generated by the facility will be exported to the national grid and will be sufficient to provide all the electricity needs for about 12,500 homes.

As part of the planning application process, we assisted the client in developing their proposals, engaged the local planning authority and other key stakeholders in pre-application discussions, undertook a thorough review of planning policy, and prepared the Planning Application Forms, Planning Statement, Design and Access Statement, and Statement of Community Involvement which were submitted with the application. We are also assisting with the Environmental Permit application. Northamptonshire County Council approved the planning application in May 2009 and the facility is now under construction.
