Adams Hendry has formed an integral part of Southern Water’s project team for over 10 years. A key element of the scheme was the extraction of 1.3 million tonnes of gravel and the planned creation of three reservoirs for this 58 hectare site.

Adams Hendry has advised Southern Water on day-to-day implementation of their planning permission and has co-ordinated and prepared a number of supplementary applications, including an interim restoration scheme for the site following OFWAT's decision not to fund the main reservoir. The scheme has evolved so that now only one of the proposed reservoirs, Little Testwood Lake, has been constructed as a water supply resource.Testwood Lake has been developed as an amenity and recreational lake but, within the terms of the legal agreement negotiated by Adams Hendry, Southern

Water could build the reservoir at a later date, should the funding become available. The third lake, Meadow Lake, is a nature conservation water body. The site opened to the public in September 2003 and is managed by Hampshire Wildlife Trust. An Interpretation Centre has been built and is used by local schools and the community.

Adams Hendry has had a key role in the development of Testwood Lakes. We have prepared and regularly updated the Testwood Lakes Management Plan covering operational use of the lakes, nature conservation and recreation.

We have also contributed and provided guidance to the Forum, which is required to meet on a bi-annual basis. We continue to advise Southern Water on the management of the site.
