Adams Hendry recently co-ordinated and edited the Environmental Statement, prepared and submitted a planning application on behalf of SITA UK for an Energy from Waste facility adjacent to SITA’s existing landfill site at Telford. The facility will be capable of treating around 62,000 tonnes of residual municipal solid waste arising from the local area and will make a significant contribution to the network of sustainable waste management facilities in the County. Excess heat and power generated by the facility will be exported to the national grid and nearby industrial properties.

As part of the planning application process, we assisted the client in developing their proposals, assembled and managed the EIA Team and prepared the planning and needs and alternatives of the ES, engaged the local planning authority and other key stakeholders in pre-application discussions, prepared the Planning Application Forms, Planning Statement, Design and Access Statement, and Statement of Community Involvement which were submitted with the application. The application was submitted in September 2008 and awaits determination.
