The Southampton Approach Channel Dredge (SACD) involves selective deepening and widening of the extensive navigable deep-sea channel at various locations along the River Test, Southampton Water and the Solent to improve access for vessels entering and leaving the Port of Southampton.
Adams Hendry provided policy advice to Associated British Ports, the owner and operator of the Port, in respect of the proposal. The work undertaken by Adams Hendry formed the basis of the policy justification contained within the application documentation, including the justification as to why the works were needed for imperative reasons of overriding public interest.
Necessary marine consents were obtained for the works from the Marine Management Organisation, and the works have since been implemented.
