| Solent Waterfront Strategy | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Adams Hendry Consulting Ltd., led the team (the other members were W S Atkins and Marina Projects Ltd.) that produced a strategy for marine and marine-related industries in the sub-region around the Solent and its associated harbours, rivers and coasts. The Solent Waterfront Strategy was commissioned by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA). It is an innovative document in two volumes; a main report with analysis and recommendations and an appendix containing the detailed evidence base. It is available on SEEDA’s website: www.seeda.co.uk |
The Strategy draws into sharp focus fundamental economic, environmental and social issues that must be faced by those seeking to plan the sub-region. It provides an evidence base and informed analysis, both of them for the first time, which explain the significance of marine industries to the fabric of a major city region. It concludes with practical recommendations relating to the economy, skills, development plans, infrastructure, nature conservation, climate change and sea-level rise. The Strategy won the RTPI Award for Spatial Strategies as well as winning a Commendation in the spatial strategies category of the RTPI South East Region Planning Awards. |
