One of Adams Hendry’s fastest growing sector is renewable energy, particularly wind proposals.  We are familiar with the contentious planning issues surrounding the development, promotion and determination of wind proposals, which are well documented. We have a good understanding of the key planning matters and potential barriers to such schemes securing planning consent. Schemes are often refused on the grounds of their potential landscape and visual impact and also tend to generate significant public comment again frequently based on the perception of harm to amenity, potential impacts from noise, aviation impacts, and concerns about protected species, particularly birds.

Adams Hendry advises LPAs on the determination of applications, and private sector Clients on permitted development rights and applications for renewable energy schemes.

Adams Hendry is excited to announce its recent appointment by Selby District Council, to assist the Council in its determination of a number of major wind farm planning applications.   We will be performing the case officer role on these applications, reviewing the submitted Environmental Statements, liaising with the applicants and consultees, reviewing the schemes’ compliance with planning policies and preparing officer’s recommendation reports to take to Committee.  This major new commission further develops and utilises our extensive experience of renewable energy projects, in combination with our Environmental Impact Assessment expertise.  The three submitted applications are at Wood Lane, Birkin (14 no. 125m high wind turbines), Bishopwood (7 no. 125m high wind turbines) and Cleek Hall (5 no. 125m high wind turbines) all within Selby District, with further applications expected imminently.
