The Solent Waterfront Strategy, prepared by a team led by Adams Hendry, won the RTPI award for Spatial Strategies which was announced on 4th February 2010.

Commissioned by the South East England Development Agency from Adams Hendry, WS Atkins and Marina Projects Limited, the Strategy presents ground-breaking research and analysis highlighting the significance of marine industries to the sub-regional economy.

JUDGES COMMENTS

"The team responsible for preparing the Solent Waterfront Strategy has made a major contribution to spatial planning and provided an exemplar of best practice. The strategy promotes innovation in and support for flourishing core marine clusters, safeguarded marine sites and action to tackle sea level rise. The study demonstrates the importance of policy-makers commissioning robust evidence and the role of professional planners in providing it. We were impressed by this exceptional piece of work, which has already informed regional, sub-regional and local policy and decision-making."
