  Scheme wins top national award

A Southern Water scheme has won a top national award. Adams Hendry worked closely on the project to establish the new Church Farm Reservoir near Pulborough in West Sussex. Now the development has been recognised at the Utility Industry Achievements Awards. It was voted the Capital Project Management Award by judges on 15th December 2011.

Adams Hendry worked closely with Southern Water and Atkins Water & Environment over a number of years to assess water resource options across Sussex. This led to the identification of the reservoir proposal. Adams Hendry and Atkins prepared the planning application and EIA for this environmentally sensitive project located within the South Downs National Park and close to the Pulborough Brooks RSPB reserve.

The extensive pre-application consultation with Horsham District Council, local Parish Councils and residents was very well received by stakeholders, leading to general support for the proposals. The project was constructed by Barhale Trant Utilities and is now operational.

Adams Hendry Director Andy Blaxland said "We are delighted that the project has been recognised through this award. The Project Team proactively engaged with the local communities throughout the project, with a real commitment to working together to design a sustainable scheme. This is the first major new water resource project that Southern Water has developed in recent years, and Adams Hendry is proud to have helped to deliver it".
