Adams Hendry undertook the environmental impact assessment and prepared the planning application for the East London Line Southern Extension in 200/1. The Secretary of State confirmed the London Underground (East London Line Extension) (No. 2) Order 2001 in October 2001. Tracklaying on the link from Surrey Quays to the South London Line at Old Kent Road was completed in December 2011. Power supply and signalling works are now taking place with testing of trains starting in June 2012.

Train services from Dalston Junction to Clapham Junction via Surrey Quays will commence in December 2012.  There will be four trains per hour that will stop at all stations on the route.  Stations served in south London will include Clapham High Street, Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye and Queens Road, Peckham.  This will complete the new London Overground orbital route around London 20 years after the initial appointment of Adams Hendry as planning advisors to the project in December 1992.
