  Lymington Catholic Primary School, Pennington

Our Lady and St. Joseph’s Primary School was founded in Lymington in 1859. By the end of the Twentieth Century it had outgrown its original buildings and part of the teaching accommodation was in temporary buildings that needed renewal. Its small site in Lymington town centre was inadequate to enable a satisfactory redevelopment to be achieved.

Lymington Catholic Primary School appointed Adams Hendry to secure planning permission for a new school within the Hampshire Green Belt and outside the defined settlement boundary of Pennington on the edge of the village.

As well as overcoming established planning policies relating to the development of the school within the Green Belt, other issues included the provision of highway safety and traffic calming measures to the satisfaction of the local authorities.

Adams Hendry secured planning permission from New Forest District Council. Lymington Catholic Primary School opened in Pennington in 2004 and has about 120 children on role arranged in four classes.
