Adams Hendry is advising Winchester College on its proposals to develop 11 residential properties for rent on the site of 77 to 79 Kingsgate Street and the adjacent Wellington Cottage, Canon Street. The scheme proposes high quality flats and houses involving a mixture of conservation, renovation and new build properties. Working closely with the College’s appointed architects, transport consultant, archaeologists and other consultants, Adams Hendry is preparing a detailed planning application and application for Scheduled Monument Consent for submission to the relevant determining authorities.
Adams Hendry also organised two public exhibitions within the local community and assisted in the setting up of a dedicated web site providing further details about the College’s proposals. Detailed consultation with the local planning authority, English Heritage, local businesses and adjacent landowners has also been undertaken to take account of concerns and comments on the draft proposals before the scheme was finalised. A key part of the work has involved a thorough analysis of the existing urban character and the designated heritage assets that form this part of the Winchester Conservation Area to ensure that the proposals deliver positive improvements in the quality of the overall built and historic environment.
