Concerns about climate change give a new emphasis to the need to reduce emissions by the inclusion of measures to generate energy by renewable means in development proposals. The London Plan (2008), for example, requires developers to make sure carbon emissions will be cut by 20% through the development of on-site renewable energy. Adams Hendry is experienced in the submission of planning applications for the production of electricity by means of wind turbines and the burning of biogas and solid wastes.

Adams Hendry has secured planning permission for an Anaerobic Digestion process that will treat 10-25% of sludge generated at Beckton STW in East London together with a new wind turbine.

The wind turbine will be rated at 1.5MW, with a height to hub of 65m, blade diameter of 60m, and total height of 95m. It is located just 13.5 km (8.5 miles) from Trafalgar Square.
