Adams Hendry advised the English Province of Our Lady of Charity regarding the redevelopment of St Michael’s Convent and Church of the Sacred Heart, Waterlooville. The conversion of these buildings, both grade II listed, formed the centre of a major housing development for the town on this important brownfield site.
Adams Hendry successfully achieved a Local Plan allocation for the site and negotiated a series of Development Guidelines with the local planning authority, including the demolition of unsympathetic additions to the listed buildings, to increase the potential area for redevelopment.
Following the sale of the site to a major house builder, construction is underway to create a sustainable housing development sympathetic to its historic setting and lying close to the town centre of Waterlooville.
